Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of the Be Timeful iPhone app and betimeful.app (together, the "Service"), published by AJP Studios LLC ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. The licence you get

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Be Timeful on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the Apple Media Services Terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the app except where that restriction is prohibited by law.

2. Your content is yours

Everything you record — your entries, reflections and categories — belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it. If you enable Backup & Sync, you grant us only the limited permission needed to store and transmit that content to your own devices so the feature can work. We do not use your content for advertising or to train machine-learning models.

3. Accounts

An account is optional and only required for Backup & Sync. Accounts are created with Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for the security of the Apple Account you use. You can delete your account and all synced data at any time in Settings → Delete Account.

3a. Subscriptions (Be Timeful+)

The core app is free. An optional auto-renewing subscription, Be Timeful+ ($2.99/month, or $19.99/year with a 7-day free trial), unlocks additional features such as Insights, full journal history, Apple Health suggestions, widgets, custom categories, and Backup & Sync.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The yearly plan's free trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel any time in your App Store account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.
Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple, not us. To request a refund, use Apple's reportaproblem.apple.com.
If a subscription lapses, Plus features lock again — but nothing you recorded is deleted, and everything unlocks on resubscribing.
Prices may change for new billing periods; you'll always see the price before you're charged, and a change never applies without the notice Apple requires.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service unlawfully, don't attempt to breach or probe its security, don't disrupt it for others, and don't try to access accounts or data that aren't yours.

5. Not health or medical advice

Be Timeful is a personal time-awareness tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, health, psychological, or professional advice. Information it shows — including anything derived from Apple Health data on your device — is for your own general awareness only. Never rely on it for medical decisions; talk to a qualified professional.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the Service running, but it is provided on an as-is basis and may be unavailable, interrupted, or changed. Features may be added, altered, or removed. Backup & Sync depends on third-party infrastructure outside our control.

7. Your data and backups

Be Timeful is local-first, and the copy on your device is the primary one. While we take reasonable care, you are responsible for keeping your own backups — for example through your regular iPhone backup. We are not liable for lost or corrupted data.

8. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AJP Studios LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five US dollars.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, where the change is significant, note it in the app or its release notes. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app, and delete your account from within it. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are breached.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Florida, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

13. Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide any support or maintenance for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
